Model booking software for photographers and small studios

A booker's hands sign a printed model booking agreement on a dark set table beside a tape measure and a stack of comp cards, under one warm lamp

Model booking software for photographers and small studios should do five things: let you post a casting, show verified applicants side by side, generate a signed agreement with rate and usage, store the model release, and handle payment after the wrap. If you cast for clients several times a month, those five steps are the difference between a clean file and a pile of text threads. ModelContracts covers all five, and models never pay anything.

What to look for before you pick a tool

  • Casting. One post that reaches models who match the brief, instead of a dozen direct messages.
  • Screening. Age and identity checked, portfolios and measurements in one view.
  • Agreement. Rate, hours, overtime, cancellation and usage generated for each booking.
  • Release. The signed model release stored with the booking, ready for a client or marketplace.
  • Payment. Hours approved after the wrap and the model paid without an invoice chase.
  • Repeat bookings. A list of models you have already worked with, to invite again.

The shoot is easy, the paperwork is where hours go

A photographer casting for one client a quarter can manage with email and a shared sheet. Once you run several clients, each with their own usage terms, the weak spots show. A release is signed on paper and photographed, a rate is agreed by text, and the client asks six months later whether the model's usage covered paid ads. Software earns its fee when it answers that question in one click. The model booking agreement post lists the clauses that should be in every file.

Plans and fees for a small studio

The brand or studio pays a monthly plan and an agency fee on each booking: 20% on Starter, 15% on Studio, 12% on Agency and 10% on Enterprise. Models pay nothing. If you book on behalf of clients, decide whether the fee is passed through in your quote or built into your day rate. A worked invoice with every line is in model hiring fees, and the plans are on the pricing page.

Write the brief once, reuse it every season

Name the client category, the garments or products, the look range, the dates and the rate. State the usage the client bought, because models price the job by where the images will run. Keep a saved brief for repeat clients and change only the dates. Category pages such as hire models for clothing brand, hire beauty models and hire jewelry models show what a complete brief covers.

The three documents they will ask for

Retailers, marketplaces and ad platforms sometimes ask for proof of consent after an image is live. Keep the signed agreement, the release and the approved hours together. On ModelContracts each booking produces one record, so the answer to a client takes a minute. The model release form page shows what the model signs. When the finished photos become ad creatives, you can also turn a product link into video ads once the usage in the booking covers paid placement.

What is the best model booking software for photographers?

The best choice is the one that covers casting, a signed agreement with usage, the release and payment in one booking. Spreadsheets cover none of that, and general scheduling apps only cover the calendar. ModelContracts is built for brands, photographers and studios casting verified adult models.

How much does model booking software cost?

On ModelContracts plans start at $49 a month on Starter, with an agency fee of 20% to 10% on each booking depending on the plan. Models never pay. The fee is shown before you confirm a booking.

Can a photographer book models for a client?

Yes. Post the casting with the client's brief and usage, book the model on the signed agreement and keep the release on file. Decide up front whether the agency fee is passed through to the client.

Do I still need a model release if I use booking software?

Yes. The release is the model's written permission to use their likeness. Good software collects it with the booking and stores it, so you never rely on a photo of a paper form.

Can I rebook the same model?

Yes. Invite models you have already worked with to a new casting, so repeat shoots start from people you trust.
